Our confirmation class is for youth who are in the 7th grade or older. We meet on Sunday afternoons at 4:30 (October - May). We have an amazing group of mentors who have committed considerable amounts of their time to making the confirmation experience awesome for the confirmands. The discussions are led by Pastor Paul, focusing on the core beliefs of United Methodist Christians, but we will have some road trips that will expose the group to Jewish, Muslim, and Roman Catholic worship. We will also have a retreat, date and location to be determined.
The year of confirmation classes has the potential to change our young people's lives. Every week they will reflect on the basic beliefs, practices, and virtues of life as a follower of Jesus. Of course, we do this from a United Methodist point of view, meaning that we give a lot of attention to worship and the sacraments, social justice, understanding Scripture and Christian tradition, and seeing how our faith is relevant and practical in our lives. Once we start to recognize these, it can change a person's perspective for life, confirming the value of our faith and our value to the work of God.
