Two HUMC families a part of the dozen or so Lake Norman-area families who are hosting children from Afghanistan and Iraq this summer through the 12-year-old Lake Norman Children's Relief organization. During a six-week stay in the area, the children, some of whom are orphans, will receive basic medical care. In some cases, the care will go beyond that. All will be loved and gain a unique exposure to American life.

Lake Norman Children's Relief is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization made up of volunteers who are committed to demonstrating God's love by providing medical and dental care to children in need. For more on LNCR, check out their website at www.lncr.ws.

Vacation Bible School at Huntersville United Methodist Church -- what a week!

An army of kids and a battalion filled the halls -- and just about everywhere else last week -- for our 2008 Vacation Bible School. More than 180 kids were on hand, chaperoned by 90-plus volunteers. Our science them -- "The Amazing Power Lab" -- kept everyone thinking. If you missed the fun, go ahead and mark you calendars for next year. We'll be back with a brand new theme and more VBS fun!
